Self-love, self-care: Discipline
When we think of this journey, we need to learn to understand what it means. It isn't only comprised of the treats, but the pushing through. It's like that push through when you've engaged in a rigorous workout routine and feel the burn, but decide to continue for the benefits.
We all slip up, so that is something normal. What you need to have patience with is discipline, and grace for yourself.
Of my 'rules' mentioned before, I too have slipped up/strayed. I worked late and couldn't eat before 7pm. I went for my vaccination and couldn't do a full workout. But I have my plan, and slipping up doesn't mean I have lost control nor that I should call it quits. Push through.
So what we need to do is set up a list of things we want to achieve and then a list of ways we plan on getting there. The list will change, maybe after the first two weeks you can become stricter with yourself. We all have separate journeys and differing goals, so it might be that your self-love journey is more focused on spending time with yourself or loosening up (then perhaps you needn't have a plan).
The feel good of ticking off on the to-do list is real. Find what works for you (even if it takes days, weeks or months) and you will reap the benefits.
For example:
-Why am I wanting to start on my self-love journey?
-Why now?
-What do I feel happy about, what stresses me out?
-How can I best unwind each day?
-What do I hate/dislike about myself? How can I change that?
-What do I want my self-love/self-care to be and feel like?
When I have lost my way, I went back to the drawing board to find what I can change (not really with my self-love plan, but with my day-to-day) to better help enjoying time with myself or allow myself what I intend.
I have written out some things to remind myself, for instance I have a note "Eat before 7pm ~Flabby Tummy". It sounds mean, but it reminds me of one of my goals. Maybe try: "Hey, love yourself, you deserve it" or "Relax, you're doing great!".
Let me know about your journey.
