Self-love, self-care: Choosing yourself and allowing true love

You know those fairytales? Those love stories from movies?

Well as you’d think, it’s not real. But what is real is finding someone so well fit for you that you surpass any expectation of a movie.

I had been in relationships before (the last one was over 5 years) and I always felt invisible and out of place. But I feel now what it feels like to meet your soul mate. I understand why people want to get married or become life partners. I get how people can wake up to someone and feel excited to see them in the evening even when that is 12 hours away.

I  have found true love in its purest form. And yes, honeymoon phase happens. But none of this has ever happened. I feel happy just seeing him. I feel a joy from deep within whenever we have a conversation about any of our passions. I didn’t have a real “list” before, but he meets and exceeds all I thought I would want.

The reality of life is that sometimes things happen when you aren’t expecting or wanting it to. And those things may end up being the best things that you have ever experienced.

Going for late trips to the garage, waking up and cuddling, being close all day and still not feeling it’s enough, feeling their touch and having your full body covered in goosebumps… This is what I wanted - the small things. But they make me so happy it gets overwhelming.

Sometimes you may feel guilty when your prayers are answered… Thoughts of doubt and inadequacy? These are all common when you have not been treated the way you deserve and when you never truly chose yourself before. The best decision I could have made was to choose myself. And he has helped me do that.

I am in love. I’m in a state I have never been. A state I don’t feel worthy of, but that I celebrate each moment because life is too short to take any of this for granted.
